Multi-stage, multi-day festivals across Africa. Designed, engineered and run by one production team since 1994.

● Festival Production / 01
A concert happens on a stage. A festival happens across an entire site. Multiple stages run to tight changeovers, tens of thousands of people move between them for hours or days, and every metre of power, water, lighting and fencing has to be brought in, certified and taken out again.
That is a different discipline from a single show, and it is the work Mushroom Productions has been doing for more than three decades. We have produced Ultra Music Festival South Africa since 2014, launched Sensation Innerspace in South Africa, and taken NickFest to Lagos. We know where festivals go wrong, because we have spent years making sure ours don't.

● From The Field / 02
Main stages, arenas and full festival sites produced across South Africa and Nigeria.

● What Your Brief Gets / 03
We turn an empty field, park or precinct into a working festival site: stage positions, sightlines, sound propagation, audience zones, back-of-house, emergency routes and vehicle access, all planned on scaled drawings before anything is booked.
Main stage, secondary stages, arenas and tents, each specified for its audience size and programme, with changeovers planned so the schedule holds from first act to last.
Custom stage architecture, roofs, rigging and LED structures, designed for the site's ground conditions and wind loads, and signed off by registered engineers.
Generator power sized for local conditions, with redundancy for show-critical and safety systems, plus distribution, lighting, water, sanitation and fencing for the full footprint.
Entrances, queuing, bars, toilets, medical points and stage-front design laid out so audiences move safely and spend their time enjoying the event, not waiting.
We work alongside your appointed safety officer and prepare the technical documentation SAPS, municipalities and venue owners require, including structural sign-offs, site plans and weather and show-stop procedures.
Experienced stage managers and show callers keep every stage on time, every artist looked after, and every changeover tight.
Freight, crew scheduling, build sequencing and site handover, managed as carefully as the show itself.
● Our Process / 04
We assess the site, audience and programme, then define what the festival needs to be: capacity, stage count, layout and production standard.
Site plans, stage designs, power plans and engineering are finalised and submitted, alongside the safety documentation authorities require.
Infrastructure goes in first, then stages, rigging, audio, lighting and video, followed by technical rehearsals and safety inspections.
Show calling across every stage, live problem-solving, then a controlled de-rig and clean site handover.
● What We Produce / 05
Whatever the format, every festival is engineered to the same production standard as our stadium shows.
Main stages, secondary arenas and dance tents programmed and run as one site — from Ultra South Africa to Sensation Innerspace.
Stadium-scale shows like Global Citizen Mandela 100 at FNB Stadium, built for tens of thousands of fans and a global broadcast.
Character-led family festivals such as NickFest Nigeria in Lagos, designed for all-day family audiences.
Festivals built around a brand moment — like two editions of VivoNation in Johannesburg.
Public-space festivals that turn streets, parks and precincts into ticketed event sites.
Formats taken across borders with local crews, partners and permits — South Africa to Nigeria and beyond.

For a multi-stage festival on a greenfield site, start 9 to 12 months out. Site design, engineering, approvals and infrastructure all need lead time, and the best crews and equipment are committed early in festival season.
Concert production centres on one stage in an existing venue. Festival production covers the entire site: multiple stages, infrastructure, crowd flow, power and services, often over several days. We produce both; see Concert Production for stadium shows and tours.
We work alongside your appointed safety officer and prepare the technical documentation authorities require, from structural sign-offs to site plans and weather procedures. Read our guide to event safety compliance in South Africa.
Yes. We produce across the continent, including NickFest in Lagos, Nigeria.
