Brief:
To launch the globally renowned dance event, Sensation, in South Africa with its famous ‘Innerspace’ show. The event required attendees to dress in white, upholding Sensation’s long-standing tradition. The objective was to deliver an unprecedented spectacle, surpassing all expectations for the South African audience.
Objectives & Strategy:
The primary goal was to provide South Africans with a unique, immersive experience of Sensation’s ‘Innerspace’ spectacle, establishing a new benchmark for electronic music events in the country. The strategy focused on meticulous production and execution to recreate the iconic show on a grand scale, ensuring an unforgettable dance phenomenon.
Results:
G and G Productions successfully brought the world’s largest indoor electronic music event to Johannesburg, selling out the then “Coca-Cola Dome” to 17,000 guests, all dressed in white. The event featured an international DJ line-up, a revolutionary “in-the-round” sound system utilizing three PA systems to cover the entire floor space, and the largest rigging operation ever undertaken at the venue, involving 136 motors. A complex 14m main stage with a 9m revolving DJ platform, along with two B-stages featuring water fountains and pyrotechnics, demonstrated world-class production. The visually spectacular event set new standards for its genre in South Africa and was highly acclaimed.
